I am not surprised by this, but to those who have read my last two posts, you may not be surprised either by what happened at work today.
The lady who came in yesterday and said I was talking badly about her to the other pharmacy (lies, all lies) filed a complaint against me! I can’t say I didn’t see this coming, but it is still very strange as I did not talk badly about her at all. If she thinks she is the only person in this town who gets pain medication then she is sorely mistaken. If we were rude to all patients who take pain medication, we wouldn’t have any patients left. I do not judge these people and I had no knowledge of this patient previous to yesterday and we had never filled for her before. There was nothing to violate. The other pharmacy called and asked if we had two drugs in stock, I answered her and then asked what doctor (to make sure it was one we could fill) and that was it. She gave me no name other than the doctor’s name, who is a doctor we fill prescriptions for all the time. It makes me wonder what she thought she heard. She said she could hear me through the phone! How is this when I didn’t even say what she is accusing me of. Maybe she is just an angel sent to get me out of my situation, and I will be thankful to her one day. Who knows.
I know I did no wrong, and I HATE getting accused of something I didn’t do. I set my standards in patient care and privacy very high so this kind of thing doesn’t happen. My boss said I know what can happen if she continues her complaints. She means I will be fired for HIPAA violation. I could fight it as what she has said does not constitute a violation. And I may fight it, but I don’t know if I should. Spirit told me yesterday it will be this kind of situation that will allow me to move on, but I have to worry about paying bills. I know I should just let go and let the universe, but I am afraid the financial problems will get even worse and after a bankruptcy, we cannot afford any more problems. I know it will all be ok. Strange how this all happened so fast.
